Commemoration of the 60th Anniversaries of
VE and VJ Day: 10 July

for an open-air service to commemorate the 60th Anniversaries of VE and VJ Day
7pm, Songs that Won the War
in Bladon Methodist Church
The Methodist Church will be decked out with union jack flags for this concert of war time favourites. The concert will include a sing-along of songs including Pack up your Troubles, They'll Always Be an England and The White Cliffs.
Bladon Junior Church
Sir Winston Churchill Exhibition
in the Methodist Schoolroom
Throughout the day there will be an exhibition commemorating 40 years since the death of Sir Winston Churchill. There will be newspaper articles, pictures and some rare archive cine film taken in Bladon at the time of the burial. The police closed
the village to non-residents as thousands of
people flocked to Bladon to pay their last respects.

The government, in consultation with veterans organisations, has decided that the principal commemoration should take place on Sunday 10 July – a single
day falling
between the
anniversaries
of VE and
VJ Day
