The Junior Church have been awarded a grant from the Churchill Memorial Trust, a charity that supports local charities, schools and community groups. The charity raises money each year with a prestigious concert at Blenheim Palace. The Junior Church was represented at the concert by our minister Rev Martin Wellings and our leader Mrs Pat Clapton. Two of our children sold programmes to the distinguished guests. The grants was awarded at a ceromony at the Palace. You can see two Junior Church members in the photo below: Hannah in the blue jumper in the front row and Paul, the one who's a foot taller than everyone else!

The Junior Church have received a grant of £500 from West Oxfordshire District Council to spend on lighting equipment for the church. Bladon Methodist Church has been a busy place over the last few months. For two weeks the main part of the church was in complete chaos as the vestibule was pulled down and given a steel frame. The original wood work was then replaced over this frame. This means we can use the top of the vestibule for our productions without the use of half a dozen acro-props The installation of proper stairs means we can also use it as an overflow gallery for popular events such as our Candelit Concert. The work was timed to co-inside with a United Service with our friends at St Martin's so we had a clear 2 week window without a Sunday service! We have

The Junior Church has received a second of grant of £500 from the West Oxfordshire District Council Arts Department. This money will be matched by a similiar amount from the Junior Church and will be spent on lighting equipment. This is part of a 4-year project to provide a fully equiped lighting rig at the church which will be used as a resource for local groups. A similar grant was also received last year.

The Junior Church has adpoted a Mongoose at the Cotswold Wildlife Park near Burford. We ran a webpoll in the members section and the Mongoose Party narrowly beat the Parrot Party, despite some frantic campaigning. Click on the Mongoose to see a picture of our adoptee.
also had a lot of electrical work done, mainly providing a dedicated 100 Amp supply for our stage lighting. This is now on its own phase and completely separate from all the other electrical circuits. Finally, the toilets have been redecorated and now look really presentable!. Although the eventual aim is to rebuild the toilet block this is still a couple of years off and meanwhile a refurbishment was definitely overdue.

The Junior Church visited the Oxford Bus Museum in Long Hanborough who have a large collection of vintage buses and coaches. Click on the bus on the left to see some pictures.
During the 4 week trip, Jenny spent her time helping in orphanages, schools and hospitals, carrying out refurbishment work and teaching English. To see a couple of photographs of Jenny 'in action' read in.

Our production this autumn was the Gilbert and Sullivan comedy opera
The Mikado. The church was transformed into the town of Titipu in Japan. We even translated all the signage around the building into Japanese kanji! Read more about this hilarious comedy by clicking on the Japanese flag.

Our autumn production was the hit musical Me and My Girl. This show contained a host of hilarious characters, witty one-liners, great dance routines and a musical score that had the audience singing all the way home! Show-stopping numbers included Doing the Lambeth Walk, The Sun has Got his Hat On, Leaning on the Lampost and of course, Me and My Girl. Click on the lampost for pictures.

Tom Saunders has qualified as a pilot officer in the RAF and is flying with the exclusive Red Arrows. Tom has starred in most of our shows over the last 10 years, Click on the plane to see a picture.
We also had an exhibition to mark the 40 years since the death of Sir Winston Churchill, who is buried in the village churchyard.
